This is something we haven't seen before: laser-cut sushi rolls. After the 2011 tsunami, Japanese ad agency I&S BBDO created these detailed laser-cut nori designs for their client, Umino Seaweed, in five classic Japanese patterns.
The five designs include: Sakura (Cherry Blossoms), Mizutama (Water Drops), Asanoha (Hemp), Kikkou (Turtle Seashell), Kumikkou (Tortoise Shell). This is merely a new product proposition and not yet on the market, but look out! You may see it on store shelves in the near future.

gorgeous -- I look forward to these being available.
I don't see how these designs being created after the tsunami have to do with anything? Were they donated as part of the relief effort or something?
@mstinawu - if you follow the link to the article it explains that the laser cut nori was created to help boost sales after the tsunami.
Thanks Michelou, I was wondering the same thing as MSTINAWU - couldn't even see the link to the article! These are gorgeous, totally extravagant and if restaurants use them then I'm sure the patron will have to swallow a higher cost, but you still have to appreciate technology being used in surprising and beautiful ways.
