Mike and Kristen purchased their Lakewood, California home six years ago and immediately went to work on it. Kristen works as an architect and interior designer so she had an idea of how to transform the home before they even moved in. Currently her greatest inspiration while decorating the house is the bright blue wall in the living room. Even though the greatest inspiration for the house is in the living room, it still spills over into the moder and updated kitchen. The mix of brand new IKEA cabinets, vintage canisters and Corian countertops really convey the eclectic, vintage and modern look that the couple aimed to achieve.
In most kitchens, stainless steel appliances lend themselves to creating a modern kitchen — but in Kristen and Mike's kitchen they actually do the opposite. They make the space feel retro and refreshing at the same time. The frosted cabinets make the space feel airy and fresh and the backsplash is the absolute perfect color to make it all come together.
