I have a friend who eats her pizza with a knife and fork. She's European, so she has impeccable formal table manners and whenever I eat pizza with her, I admit that I feel like a philistine, for I eat my pizza by picking up a slice in my hand and bringing it straight up to my mouth. How do you eat your pizza?
In this video clip, Jon Stewart takes Donald Trump to task on several of his pizza moves, from Trump's choice of a chain pizza parlor to the fact that he stacks his slices on a plate. But what really sends Stewart over the edge is when Trump picks up a fork and begins eating his pizza with it. Later, Trump defended himself by saying he was trying to just eat the toppings and not the crust so that "we keep the weight down at least as good as possible."
On occasion, I'll start eating pizza with a knife and fork but truth be told, I always end up eating it with my hands. Why? It's just more fun that way. And for me, pizza is a fun, informal food even if I'm eating one of those pricey wood-fired pies you see so much of these days. The exception would be when eating a deep dish styled pizza but to be honest, I haven't had one of those in a long time.
How about you? What's your preferred pizza eating method?

Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

If the slice is floppy enough, I eat eat the pointier 1/3 with a knife and fork. But then I switch to hands for the rest of the slice.
If I'm eating at a table - definitely with a knife and fork (being from Denmark, I honestly thought most people, all over the world, did this). On my way home from a night out drinking, I'll go ahead and just grab a slice with my hand (I'll take a huge bite off the tip at the end, curl the rest up, and eat it as a pizza roll from the side).
Yep, eating at the table......knife and fork - table manners. Eating it out of the box on the couch....knife and fork for the floppy centre bit if necessary and then hands the rest of the way.
In my opinion, pizza (like chick wings) is meant to be eaten with one hand (leaving your other hand clean). Pick up a slice, fold it in half, and go to town.
My pizza has to be gluten free so let's see Jon Stewart try to eat that cardboard-textured crust without spilling it everwhere (just kidding Stewart, love ya) also I eat with my fork in my left hand, which apparently is a sin in this country. So many people ask me why I'd eat "European style"!
I've also been known to eat the floppy end with a fork on a pizza that didn't crisp enough in the middle, but after that it's always hands (except for Chicago style, obviously). Then again, I'm one of those people that would really be fine eating almost everything without utensils, so I'm not representative of the whole (at least I don't think so).
Living in Chicago, eating pizza with a knife and fork is more out of necessity than table manners! But if the pizza I'm eating is pick-up-able, you can bet that's how I'm rolling. I'm not a fussy kind of person, and I don't find myself eating pizza at many formal occasions. Though that could be interesting... Pizza party gala anyone?
When it is too hot, I'll eat the floppier end with knife and fork, but after it has cooled a little, I use my hands.
I use a knife and fork only if it's deep dish. Otherwise, I pick it up.
I want to know about that photo. Was it part of an episode, or a candid shot during a break in filming? It's not logical!
I once had pizza with three Europeans and I felt like such a slob...
(they all ate with a knife and fork and I just crammed it into my mouth)
You do not need a knife and fork to eat pizza - that's why there's a crust! To hold the pizza by!
Cold from the fridge at two a.m. I'll use my hands, but grease on me is terribly annoying, so I usually wind up with a knife and fork!
It depends on the kid of pizza. Thick pan crust like Pizza Hut I eat with a knife and fork. Good New York style I fold in half and eat that way.
I use a knife and fork to slow myself down. Pizza tastes better (and lasts longer) when it's eaten bite by bite, instead of chomp by chomp :-)
My Dad has enough of an overbite that he can't eat pizza unless he uses a knife and fork: his teeth don't meet enough to cut through the crust. I use my hands and bite, but sometimes I make a soggy crust and have to resort to utensils as well.
