Kitchen Spotlight: Tom's Old and New City Galley

Here is a wonderful piece of holiday weekend kitchen eye candy for you. It's a simple galley kitchen in New York City, the home of an art dealer and avid cook. Tom has an eye for the modern but a taste for the old. His kitchen is simple yet detailed, modern yet with flourishes of the antique, and modest yet perfectly appointed.

This kitchen is in a 1918 landmark building, so Tom and his partner Justin wanted to respect its original lines but still make it modern. They put a lot of work and love into the whole apartment, but the kitchen renovation really stood out to us. It has Croatian marble on the kitchen floor, and marble countertops (requested by Justin because, according to Tom, "someday he may bake").

Tom is really the cook of the household, and the kitchen reflects his love of food and home cooking. It looks so efficient and well-designed, and yet homey; we love the geraniums in the window and the warmth of Tom's vintage collections. Silver, china, and great cupboards — what more do we need?
