Here' a little end-of-Thursday kitchen eye candy for you. But it's so far from a show kitchen or an over-the-top space. It's a simple, unpretentious kitchen with light streaming in and a sunny, relaxing shade of yellow. We should all be so lucky.This is just a basic rental kitchen — no fancy upgrades here, but it looks like a simply lovely place to cook, eat breakfast, and chat with a friend over a cup of tea. Leslie says that the color of the kitchen walls (in case you're wondering) is Kelly Moore: Dreamsicle. We love the delicious yellow and those playful fake flowers on the table. That pop of ruffled color is unexpected and cheery. And no water to change, too!

Do you know what I want the Kitchen, and AT in general to do? I think that y'all should have a "I rent therefore I can not paint" week. All your posts would be themed around those of us with grumpy landlords who don't allow us to make any permanent changes to our apartments -- you could round up all your best ideas for those of us who live in beige-on-white rooms, with popcorn ceilings, 20 year old appliances, and greige colored wall-to-wall carpet.
My kitchen is the worst -- ugly appliances, ugly linoleum, ugly cabinetry, terrible lighting, and white walls...
Where did those ruffle flowers come from, or how can I make them?? Love this color of yellow, I have it in my living room and it just makes a happier home.
And mlleErica -- promise to paint it back and beg beg beg. I rent too, and I've painted EVERYTHING and nailed a thousand holes in the wall....screw the deposit, just paint.

that's gorgeous! I painted every room in my rental (my yellow kitchen was a color called Pineapple Soda), just spackle all the holes and paint it back to white when you're about to move out and your landlord (unless he's a complete ahole) will refund your deposit.
just dont paint any walls brown or black- it'll take many days to cover up! every time i get the itch to paint my new apt i remember how big a pain it is to paint it back.
I love yellow kitchens and this is a great one! The flowers are also beautiful and look great against the yellow walls.

i love the green walls in the bedroom complimenting the cheerful yellow kitchen. what color of green is on the bedroom walls? *sigh*...i wish i had as sunny of a kitchen as she does. Cooking would be fun again.

This kitchen is eerily similar to mine! I even have the same calendar with the cabbages on it, though if it's the same one, we should be on peas right now. :) The yellow on my walls is just a bit more pale, but otherwise pretty close.
I love yellow walls in a kitchen. Kitchens are so broken up with cabinets and appliances, it would be hard for the yellow to become overwhelming. It's sunny and cheerful.

The funny thing about this is that the kitchen is really much more orange in person, but I love how it looks in the photos, too :).
