Did you know that our fall contest, Room for Color, just got kicked off? It's our annual celebration of color in the home, and we can hardly wait to see all the different ways that people use color in subtle, surprising, and bold ways to make their house feel like home. So, in honor of October and color, here is the most brightly colorful room we could find from the recent home tours. Meet Amy's bold, bright, yellow kitchen!
Amy's apartment is a 1-bedroom rental — very similar to many of your own living situations, I'm sure. And yet paint and bright furniture made this little flat into a place that feels very personal. We love yellow kitchens, of course, and this one is so incredibly bright and cheery! We love the lamp on the table, too; a great way to make the dining space feel differentiated from the cooking area.
We also like that Amy's favorite DIY was in the kitchen:
This summer I installed jars underneath my cabinets for some extra storage in the kitchen. My grandfather had this over his workbench for screws and nails, and mine hold tea, etc. I also love reusing glass jars so I have a million saved. I spray paint the lids white.
(You can see just a small glimpse of those jars in the final photo.)
What a great kitchen; it feels like a bright and happy place.
Oh, and by the way: We really, really hope to see a lot of kitchens in the Room for Color contest. If you have a colorful kitchen you're proud of, please enter it!
