There's nothing inherently wrong with this rental kitchen, but sometimes you just want something new. So what's an adventurous renter to do? Try a cool color scheme and — for a little drama — removable wallpaper on the ceiling! See the 'After' photos below:

Designed by Megan Pflug (the Projects Editor at the One Kings Lane blog), this kitchen looks like an entirely different space! Teal walls and a removable wallpaper ceiling make the whole kitchen feel cool and moody.

Many rental kitchens would certainly not allow for repainting the cabinets, but sometimes landlords are open to it — as it was in this case! Megan repainted the cabinets in a gray-taupe hue (Fine Paints of Europe in P07750), and primed the backsplash with a non-porous surface primer before painting it a light shade of gray.

Look at that ceiling! It's papered in Tempaper's Peonies Gold Leaf (PE042).

To mask the floor tiles, Megan repurposed an old sail cloth as a rug, and added her own design to it. (It's modeled here wonderfully by Kingsley, the cat!)

Would you ever wallpaper your kitchen ceiling?

Thanks for sharing, Megan and Danielle!
