Project: Lido Island Residence by Emily LaMarque Studio
Location: Newport Beach, CA
Every once in a while we like to take a look at kitchen renovations done by professional design studios. They're usually more aspirational than achievable for many of us, but they still provide great visual inspiration and ideas. The kitchen you see above once belonged to a couple who, after finding themselves empty-nesters, decided to sell their high-maintenance beachfront home. The Emily LaMarque Design Studio, based in West Hollywood, stripped the kitchen to its studs, knocked down a few walls, and turned the dated design into a glamorous kitchen befitting its covetable waterfront location.

Here's a little more info about the project, according to the Emily LaMarque Design Studio:
Our main goals were to maximize the views and premium square footage, while paying meticulous attention to detailed finish work. After stripping this home to its studs, every detail was hand selected and hand crafted to rebuild this stunning home...Exotic sapele wood flooring runs throughout...Strass crystal, smoky topaz, and glittery chrome light the space while lighting fixtures from Foscarini and Lolli e Memmoli make dramatic architectural statements.

Other stunning finishing details include the kitchen's hand-pieced quartz waterfall island. Wow! A quick resource list for the other design elements include:
- All kitchen cabinetry is from Siematic through Cooper Pacific Kitchens.
- All the appliances are Wolf and Subzero, Miele Dishwasher, Sirius Hood, Dacor Microwave Drawer, Dornbracht Faucet, Franke Sink.
- The kitchen lighting is by Bruck.
- The dining chandelier is Lolli e Memoli through Minotti.
- All the counters are Concetto by Caesarstone.
Thanks, Natalie, and the Emily LaMarque Design Studio!

This is gorgeous! I would feel so glam entertaining in this kitchen.
Is it just me or do the size of the crystal pendant lights over the island look too small for this space?
Too ostentatious for my taste. That said, I do agree that the pendants are way too small., and I also would have lowered the dining table chandelier by about a foot and a half (give or take). I lament the loss of the retro ceiling fixture in the original space and would have played it up, were it me.
Nitpicking totally aside, it is well executed.
I like the smallness of the pendants- it draws attention to how huge the island is. I wouldn't be humble about an island like that, either...
Very nice and very major overhaul! It's a little straight up contemporary for my personal preference, but I surprise myself by finding I actually really like that countertop. But wow, the lighting in the before was really something. Really, really something.
Is it wrong that I liked the showtime feel of the lights in the first picture? I like the renovated version more than the original, to be sure, but the over-the-top ceiling lighting in the first one made me smile.
Love the openness. Love the large overhand faucet. Took us forever to find good one for average size sink. Like others here, I might not do this exact style myself, but great imagination to rethink a limited space. Chef Dad
I actually kinda liked the before picture, but when I saw the after picture, I was blown away! Totally gorgeous!
This is definitely not to my taste. I'm sorry, but I don't see anything unique or inspired about it.
