- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- My kitchen is the culmination of a renovation I dreamed about for years. It's bright, colorful and I made all the design decisions myself. I'm so proud of it and still glance at it lovingly over a year after it was completed.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- Prior to my renovation, I did not have any drawers and only about 18 inches of counterspace. Plus, I was storing my pots and pans in my oven since there was nowhere else for them to go. Now, I have multiple drawers, a wide expanse of counter space and tons more storage. It's truly changed my life. I cook all the time now and absolutely love it!
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- I cooked a complete "Friendsgiving" meal for about 16 friends the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving last year. It was my very first time cooking a turkey and all the trimmings... rosemary roasted nuts, corn bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, cauliflower gratin, cranberry sauce, potato rolls (a recipe I got from this website!), chocolate pecan pie and chocolate chip pumpkin pie. It was the largest and most ambitious meal I've ever cooked and it came out better than I could have ever expected. It was amazing!

Super-cute! Well done! Love the countertops, cabinets...and I really love that punchy blue backsplash. Is it tile? Panel? Painted? Our kitchen needs a major refresh, but we can't afford a complete overhaul. Looking for backsplash inspiration--on the cheap. :)
Love the backsplash and the stacked cupboards are a great idea to maximise on space. Are the units from Ikea?

@moira313 - the backsplash is painted. I spackled and sanded the wall and then painted it myself! It was my DIY contribution to the renovation. :)
@tandcake - yes, the cabinets are from IKEA as well as the countertops. I've been really happy with them.
@imoldfashioned - yes, the LG 24" fridge and the GE 24" range. I like both very much. I love the bottom freezer and the stove and oven work great.

I love it. I totally wanted a white kitchen like this two years ago but my husband insisted we go for a darker look...What fabulous taste you have!

haha, you got my vote because your fridge is sporting the same green ikea watering can as the fridge in my entry over in the international division!! love the colour of the backsplash too. i do like a bit of colour in the kitchen ;0)
@bibliovore - that vent is no longer active so I didn't have to worry about covering it up.
@gail_forcewinds - I am actually planning to paint that wall the same color! I was all set to get started and then realized I couldn't reach the ceiling with the stepstool I own (I'm pretty short) so I need to recruit some taller friends to help out. I'm thinking I'll have a painting party in the fall and pay back the favor with a delicious meal cooked in my kitchen. :)

I like I also like your cabinet on the reverse side - nice job taking advantage of the corner blocked by the stove!
