Julie, a French filmmaker, lives with her three-year-old daughter Ellie in a rental apartment high above the quiet courtyard of a Haussmann building on the Canal Saint Martin. Almost everything in the apartment was either inherited from family or acquired at a flea market, which makes the space feel warm and homey. The kitchen, small though it may be, is especially inviting despite its simplicity. And it also features Julie's proudest DIY: the butcher block counter!
