"They call me a New York legend, that's how crazy this town is," says Joseph Ades in his sing-song sales pitch. We first posted about Ades a few years ago. We wanted to let you know he's still pushing peelers at Manhattan's busiest intersections. We recently spotted him at the Union Square Farmer's Market.
He tells the crowds that he's been selling peelers in the city for 15 years. "You couldn't sell a thing in this town for 15 minutes if it didn't work."
His Star peelers sell for $5 each, or five for twenty. Try to buy just one peeler and he'll say: "You've got no friends, like me."
"The blade is made in Switzerland and cannot rust." He says that's why his peelers are much better than what's available in the $.99 Store.
Tomorrow we'll let you know what we think of the Star peeler.

Hmmm...i wonder what he does with all those shredded carrots at the end of the day?
carrot cake? carrot slaw?
He pushes them all over the sidewalk during his demo, but seems like he cleans up when he's done? Unless, has anyone seen mysterious piles of carrot and potato peels all over NYC sidewalks?
Does anyone know the company that makes these peelers?
I'd love to buy one of those.
Thanks.
