- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- It’s incredible how much workspace we were able to add through a remodel, now we can easily have 3 people working in separate areas without bumping butts. If we could just stop arguing over that favorite knife we both love, absolute bliss would be achieved.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- When the house was purchased there were only cabinets against the exterior wall, and since this galley kitchen is also part of the hallway in our compact home, we needed to maximize storage and workspace without restricting the ability to move through the house. We took down the wall that previously contained a doorway, omitted the upper cabinets and selected light colors to make the space feel less like a cave. The tile ceilings were vaulted in a separate (and much less DIY) undertaking a few months after we gutted and rebuilt the kitchen ourselves.
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- Korean-inspired feasts for friends (gimbop, spicy tofu, and Korean bbq lettuce wraps).

very nicely done! i like the white appliances! creative use of the shelves with little details below for more storage; i.e. the paper towel holder. i might just have to borrow this idea!
Lovely kitchen! I love all of the white and the open shelving. So much like my own kitchen.
I am sooo glad that you decided to go for a lighter tone in the kitchen. It was so dark!!! I love the transformation. Well done!
well done and I ♥ the hanging kettle!
I love your kitchen. I'm trying to redo my kitchen with the same layout as yours. Where did you get your shelving? I have shown your pics to everyone in my family so they know what I mean by a beautiful "fresh kitchen". Good job.
Love the dishes.
@CTS62 - We actually built the shelving ourselves. The prices for the shelving from the cabinet catalogs was absurd! Ours are loosely based on this tutorial: http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/how-to-build-open-kitchen-shelving/index.html
The pot rack solution was inspired by the post below, and the paper towel holder was a further adaptation:

Lovely!!
lovely!!!!!
Yes! This gets my vote! If its got to be small, its got to be light!
You did such a great job! What brand of cabinets are these? The color is great.
These cabinets are the Martha Stewart line from the Depot of Homes. I believe you can buy the paint color there as well, I believe the color of the cabinets is "Ocean Floor".
