Oh my. This kitchen is just what we needed to see today, on a gray day with almost no sun. This kitchen is full of sun, with its pops of unexpected color and all that rich, fresh green. This is a spring kitchen, no matter what time of year it is.
Jenny and Cristina's kitchen is in a rental apartment that is over 100 years old. Their landlord is fairly hands-off so they've had the space to paint and do some work to the apartment. But it's still a little crumbly around the edges, with scary wiring and ancient linoleum in the kitchen. (We've all been in kitchens like this, right!)
But Jenny and Cristina have made such a warm, personal home in this apartment, and we simply love their kitchen. We love the way they've worked with their red tiling (that red door!) and brought in those unexpectedly springlike accent colors. The yellow and green are so inspiring — is spring here yet?

Straw Mat from The ...

I like it, too. It seems pretty functional as well.
how pretty!
What amazing windows!
Beautiful. I love open shelving. And those black knives are really eye-catching, too!
So sweet!!
Very charming; love the little green table. The knives on the magnetic holder kind of freak me out though.
WOW, this is my kind of kitchen. Colourful, warm, kinda kitschy (in a good way), separate from the rest of the living space, and bright. I always like to use a lot of colour in the kitchen (at least with accessories) because it's one space where you can play with colour and a little whimsy. And I personally love kitchens that are completely separate with doors so I could just shut myself in there and cook away happily without any distractions. I guess I'm gonna have to win the lottery one day and buy a nice, old Victorian home :)
I LOVE this kitchen...that red door? And the backsplash?? And the ADORABLE green table? And the windows? And it's huge. I'm pretty sure that this is the rental kitchen that dreams are made of...so unlike my apartment's drab little kitchen.
I want to go to there! The pixelated mosaic backsplash, the subway tile, the wainscotting and all that storage?! i love the mix of it, so homie. It makes my rental kitchen look like dogs vomit.
Where's the fridge? Did I miss it??
Hee! I think the fridge is actually in a little workroom off to the side. I looked through the house tour and there appears to be a room right off the kitchen where sanding/stripping/woodworking might occur and there's a fridge in there. Unless that's a second fridge.
Cute decor and colorful kitchen design. I love the pop of color and I'm jealous of the the abundance of natural lighting! I'm always scared red and green will look Christmas-y but this definitely changes my mind.
I wish I had room above my stove for a shelf... I guess the window's alright. ;)
