- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- Smart use of space, color, and lighting makes my kitchen cool. Also, I create and test some awesome recipes for my bakery in the kitchen.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- When we moved in the kitchen was in bad shape when it came to storage. As a baker there was no room to store any of my tools and multiple toppings, colors, and extracts. I used stainless steel shelves from Ikea to create storage above the range and stacked round storage boxes to house all the goodies (cookie cutters, food dyes, extracts, cup cake liners, etc). I also used ball jam jars to store spices.
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- If dessert counts as a meal, then it would be my banana chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.

I love the stainless steel around the stove and the NYC skyline on the cabinets! Adorable!
I don't understand the metal flashing around the stove. I do, however, adore the countertop extension that houses the doggy dishes. Too cute.

I have metal flashing around my stove, too. It's to keep any grease or cooking fires from burning down the house.
And to serve as a backsplash in case you ever cook anything messy and greasy. For a renter, filling in a few holes from a large metal sheet will be much easier than trying to play with tile.
It's nice but for ventilation, where is the hood? And while I like the racks above the stove, how greasy do they get from cooking? Just wondering.
The metal flashing is definitely easier to clean than painted walls, but that's more of a fringe benefit. Mine was installed by the owner, strictly for safety reasons.

I like the look of the shelves above the stove, but it seems like the worst possible place for the spices to be stored. Nothing ruins dried herbs or spices quicker than heat and light. But it's getting a vote from me for being a simple design, a well-organized use of a modest space, and cool accessories. So, yeah, small and cool.
