- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- We remodeled it ourselves for under $3,000.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- We have a formal dining room and we wanted to create a casual space to eat in our kitchen - hence the bar that we built we left over word and refinished bar stools. Also, because small kitchens usually mean less storage, we hung our pots above the stove and made sure that our island has storage both within, under (baskets) and on the side (an old bicycle basket).
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- Stir fry! Fast, easy and healthy in the wok.

I really enjoy the penny tiles, they're like sparkly jewelry. I also like the 'vintage' touches. Those things create a lot of personality in what might otherwise be a rather neutral space. Well done!
Love the island, it's gorgeous!
Seconding the love for your kitchen "island"!
What a great thing to use, especially in a small kitchen!
I have been having trouble finding an island that would work for size and vintage style and I think your idea fixes my problem.
I really dislike modern islands, that are either cheap fake wood or just ugly (I hate granite) but have yet to find a vintage piece that would work.
With an attached cutting board and some casters so I can move it, I am not ashamed to say I am stealing your idea! Old buffets like that are all over the place and it is just so perfect!
Thanks!!!
Love the eating area and your other small vintage touches.
Thirding the love for the island! So cute and those buffets are CHEAP and easy to find on craigslist, I may need to steal the idea! :) However I don't dig the pot holder...too high?? not my house so no biggie, the rest is super cute!
Love the island. Did that myself for my rental. It turned out quiet charming. I really love how all the finishes go together.
Super! Love it!
