It's time for ice cream! Well, not just ice cream, but every sort of frozen dessert this week: Ice cream, sorbet, granita, frozen hot chocolate... We'll peek inside a professional ice cream kitchen, review the latest ice cream maker to hit the market, and round up up some of our best recipes. So stick around — what would you like to see during Ice Cream Week?

I'd love some ice cream (or other frozen treat) recipes that I can make without an ice cream maker!
I'd like more eggless ice cream recipes. I like the cornstarch method better.
Didn't we once have a whole month for ice cream?
Anyway, I would love to see some non-custard ice creams and interesting ideas for sorbets, because I'm lazy like that.
i second (or third) the vote for eggless/non-custard recipes.
I agree, more eggless recipes.
I agree on the non-custard ice cream, and also would like to see some savory ice creams (goat cheese, avocado, etc).
Great - we already have at least two more eggless ice creams in the hopper this week, and no-ice-cream-maker tips, too.
@kimmbot, yes, and by the end readers felt their teeth ached (LOL) so we cut it back to just 1 week!
Frozen yogurt recipes without gelatin. Lower fat homemade ice cream recipes!
Dairy Free recipes!!! I've had enough bad soy milk ice cream...I need a recipe for something good! Almond milk, rice milk...I'll try anything at this point.
Thanks!
The NYT had a whole article on eggless ice creams last week which didn't even use cornstarch. I have a modified version of their Maple Spice in the fridge cooling right now, for afternoon freezing. Here's the link to those...

Tonight I will be enjoying a Maui Breweries Coconut Porter Ice cream Float, I've never tried the beer-float thing before, but this combo sure sounds tasty!
Last night I had roasted stone fruit over vanilla ice cream, so simple and so yummy.
Cuisinart's website's got several eggless recipes for ice cream, too, no cornstarch either!
@LovelyVelocity, the Cuisinart recipes aren't bad but they tend to coat the tongue. Maybe it's just me but I can't seem to get away from it. I solved the problem for Strawberry ice cream, at least, by using sour cream instead of regular cream and brown sugar instead of regular. It's fantastic!
I second the recipes for those without the space for an ice cream maker!
Thanks for the post sweetpeacocks, would not have known otherwise.
I want a cheesecake Icecream recipe. I have been using this one:
http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/once-a-year-cheesecake-ice-cream
And it is delicious fresh out of the machine and for a few hours after, but it got quite icicly and unscoopable after a night in the freezer.
I suppose I don't want a new recipe, I want to know how to keep the flavor of this one but tweak it so that it's more freezer friendly.
FWIW, it is absolutely to die for served with fresh sliced strawberries and topped with "graham cracker crust crumbles" comprised of a few tablespoons of butter melted and mixed with graham cracker crumbs.
I third the request for recipes that don't involve an ice cream maker, and if anyone out there knows of a recipe for sweet corn paletas, I'd really appreciate being pointed towards it--I've got more corn than I know what to do with, thanks to my CSA, and I just saw a mention of sweet corn popsicles in Bon Appetit--but no recipe!
Also - I thought I should share these, which I just found at my local grocer in the canning section: Freezer Safe, Pint size Ball Jars.
http://www.canningpantry.com/freezer-jars.html
They are the perfect icecream storage container and are really pocketbook friendly.
I fourth the request for recipes not involving ice-cream makers!
fi_burker: they posted this cheesecake ice cream recipe just yesterday ;)

I would like to see a feature on semifreddo! It doesn't require an ice cream maker. I tried making it for the first time with a recipe for white chocolate coconut semifreddo, and it turned out ... ok I guess, but not great. Would love to learn about the technique and see some tried-and-true recipes!
Thanks Karen (and cheesemonger Nora)! I asked for the tip on Monday and got my recipe on Wednesday - I squealed with excitement at the new recipe. I am trying it tonight!
In the meantime, I would like to request another topic since I am so excited!
Can you do a piece on developping your own icecream recipes? Or tweaking failed icecream recipes? There was a story ~3 months ago about sugar content of recipes determining whether the icecream would freeze properly, which made me feel much better about my failed attempt at milk chocolate icecream. (Though there were no complaints from my SO, who thought the semifrozen chocolate mousse was heaven on earth). If you could provide some guidelines for recipe development using the Jeni's technique I would be thrilled!
Thanks for the fun icecream week!
