Did you know that there's a so-called correct way to eat a cupcake? All eye-rolls aside, if you've ever disliked getting a nose full of frosting when biting into a cupcake, then this video tip is for you!
We're not sure this method is any less messy (that little frosting sandwich looks like a recipe for frosting on your pants), but it does solve the frosting-to-cake ratio issue. But, when we're talking cupcakes, any style of eating is fine by us!

FINALLY!!! Thank you for showing me how it's done! But hang on - what about the cheesecake filled ones??
It may be efficient, but I doubt it would be considered "proper" to rip apart food and mush it together in a different fashion from the way it was presented to you!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that does this! I've always made my cupcakes into a sammich and it makes it so much easier to eat this way. Haven't encountered a cheesecake filled one, but that sounds AMAZING.
Ah-ha!!! Personally I like to eat cupcakes from the bottom up, and save the best for last (frosting + a little bit of cake.)
I have been doing this for years! Every time I do it around someone new they exclaim how brilliant it is. The only thing this video missed is scraping of half of the frosting. There is always way to much and it throws off the cake/frosting ratio.
Aw, I just try to shove as much in my face as fast as possible!
I would have assumed that the best way to eat a cupcake would be with a fork on a plate.
Demonstrating once again that whoopie pies are a superior confection.
Call me crazy, but I always thought that half the fun of eating a cupcake was getting frosting all over your face.
I have a little mouth so it's going to be a mess no matter what
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Of course!
It works. But it's still messy. Just messy in a different way. If you want neat (relax, it's a cupcake for peet's sake), use a fork or a spoon. Otherwise, just take a bite and deal with it.
Sometimes I take bites from the bottom instead of tearing it off, and then bite off some frosting from the top to go with it.
The man in the video looked tastier than the cupcake though.
Growing up, my mother would make cupcakes for our school lunches, cut them in two, frost the middle, and make a sandwich out of them, just like in this video. She would then wrap the cupcakes in wax paper and freeze them. This way, the cupcakes got to school without the frosting smearing all over the wrapper.
This is exactly why I've never understood the whole cupcake obsession. They're awkward to eat, and in my opinion as someone who loves to bake and eat baked goods, the proportions of ingredients is just so...off. Either there is too much cake or too much frosting... :/ I find the thickness of the frosting on most "gourmet" cupcakes to be so unappealing. Just stick with a cake! :)
Haha, this was fun. I cut mine into quarters. Nice bite-sized pieces!
I like to eat cupcakes with a tiny dessert fork..little bites = lasts longer and perfect ration of frosting to cake with each bite!
Love it! but I'll never do it... I've always resorted to licking all the frosting off first and then eating the cake.
I usually ate cupcakes at home and just cut them into quarters and laid each one on its side before eating with a fork. I guess it's the Felix Unger in me.
... That just looks silly. I think if you're trying to be "proper" with how you eat your cupcake, you should just cut it into fourths to make it easier to eat.. I, however, do not care at all about being proper or getting messy. I just eat it. Let the crumbs fall where they may!
Ha! This is hilarious. An uber-cool counselor at summer camp showed me how to do this when I was a kid and I've eaten cupcakes like this ever since.
It's an interesting way to eat a cupcake for sure. I usually just bite off the bottom half and save the frosted top for last. That's the best part of the cupcake to me anyway!
