We know we may rankle a few readers with this one, but when it comes to all-purpose, get-everything-on-your-list grocery stores, we think Fairway has little competition.
But the crowds...
We've noticed the masses getting bigger and angrier lately at the 75th Street location. And we've heard from a friend who lives nearby that the building boom in the area is bringing more and more customers, making cart driving at Fairway even more of a contact sport than it has been.
We prefer the Harlem location, which has a parking lot and the famous Cold Room — which really should be a tour bus stop for visitors to New York. (Wait! Nevermind!) But it, too, has seemed even more crazy than usual lately.
Is it just us? Brooklyn readers: Is the Red Hook location as maddening?
Fairway's selection of organic food, especially on the 2nd floor of the 75th Street store, is great, and the prices are relatively low. So we still prefer to put our head down and power through rather than shop anywhere else.
But with more Whole Foods opening up and CSA deliveries starting soon, we thought we'd check in on your thoughts about Fairway. Do you love it? Hate it? Any tips on when to go?
