There's a built in timer, which is perfect for putting something in the oven and then putting your feet up for a few minutes while you catch up on some reading.
You can say what you will about Martha Stewart (you either love her, hate her or have a shrine in your bedroom... not that we'd know anything about that), but when it comes to cookies, she's the bee's knees. Even though we already have her baking book, cookie book and an old tattered cookie magazine from years ago, there's a new spot in our kitchen for her cookies — or rather her cookie app!
When Martha's iPad app dropped a few weeks ago, we really wanted to report that there wasn't any use for it. The more we put it to work however, the more we ended up relying on it instead of our cookbooks which say staring at me from their place on the shelf.
The new cookie app includes not only recipes for cookies, but it also lists ingredients needed to make the snack and then can add them to the grocery shopping list (which you can then email to yourself). There's a built in timer, index of tools you might not be familiar with and video after video of each cookie being made.
The app has over 50 recipes held within and each one looks as tasty as the next (though admittedly I've made many of them before, I enjoy having the resource on hand instead of keeping a book open on the counter). You can search for the perfect cookie by taste, flavor, texture or even on-hand ingredients.
We enjoy that every cookie has a photo as many cookbooks don't, although it does make choosing the right one for the moment a bit more difficult as you quickly become a kid in a
candy cookie shop. You can check out more over at Martha Stewart and see a few bits of it in action! The app is downloadable for $7.99.
Will it have me donating all of my well loved Martha cookbooks from days gone by? Probably not, but you better believe that using an app is easier than flipping through page after page to find the cookie you're looking for!
