Andrea at the blog Cooking Books just got married, and she baked her own wedding cake. That alone is a feat (we've watched Faith do the same thing). But Andrea also draped fondant, which is not always easy, and painted a beautiful, bright green scroll around the edge. She even disguised less-than-perfect edges with brown satin ribbon—beautiful and clever. Get a link to the full post, below...
Andrea had just 25 guests at her wedding in Breckenridge, Colorado, so she didn't need a huge cake. Still, we think this is a seriously impressive result. The cake and filling are both chocolate, and we love the idea of cutting into this crisp, clean, white beauty to reveal dark, fudgy cake.
There are detailed instructions for transporting, icing, stacking, and decorating. Go take a look.

Congratulations, Andrea! We hope it tasted as good as it looked.

lovely! When I get married, this is the style of cake I'd pick. Simple, pretty, festive.
Just gorgeous. What a brave venture given all the other things which go along with a wedding but how special to have something hand made for your wedding. And much better than some of those crazy $500 cakes!
She did such a lovely job!
That's amazing and beautiful. Brava!
you can also cheat with small border stencils from a craft store. you can tape them to the fondant pretty easily & then use royal icing and a small spatula or paint with food color. super easy and pretty!
