I picked up some late-harvest unripe green tomatoes at the farmer's market, and made fried green tomatoes. Then I stacked them up between bread, lettuce, red onion, and mayonnaise in a delicious sandwich!
It's really easy; just follow this recipe and spread some mayonnaise on toasted bread, add lettuce and thinly sliced red onion, and bingo! Fried green tomato sandwich. So good!

Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

There are many sad, green, picked-right-before-the-frost tomatoes in my kitchen. Thanks for the idea.
I just had my first fried green tomato at Market Lunch in DC last month. I really didn't know what I was missing. So simple, juicy . . . fried. I mean, are they good for you? They can't be! But if you are in DC and they have the FGTs, you should try them.
I love a fried green tomato BLT (or would that be BLFGT?).
Try using aioli instead of mayo.
