Have you ever tried twisting off the cap on a beer bottle only to irritate your palms and realize an opener is in order? Well, as Chow.com demonstrates, as long as you have a sheet of paper, you're in good shape. The technique looks like it takes some practice, but at minimum, it has the potential for a great party trick!
The key to this technique is leveraging the folded sheet of paper with your hand to pop of the bottle top. It's more difficult than it looks!

Hah, that's great!
Terrific! I have to give it a try!
Huh? Are there people out there who don't keep a "church key" in their kitchens? Not to mention can openers, kitchen scissors and many other kitchen gadgets have bottle openers incorporated in their design.
And when out of the house, I just use a key to open bottles.
Crap, now I have a bunch of open bottles of beer trying this out...
bethebuddha - i'm waiting for my partner to come home from work so i can open his beer bottles. lol
i'm trying to imagine where i would be without an opener or a lighter available, but with a piece of paper...
good party trick though.
Use an unopened beer to open a beer bottle. For the last beer, slam a cap on an empty and use that to open.
Same method, less waste.
So awesome, I learned something. Thank you!
You can also use a door lock-the open part in the door frame.
Love it!!
Basically the same thing as the lighter trick.
I just use my teeth! ;)
