For years I was convinced I didn't need a toaster. I thought I could just fry bread in some butter on the stovetop and it would be fine. I thought a toaster would be too big for my small Brooklyn kitchen. I thought toasters were just a silly, expensive item.
Well, dear reader, I was wrong.
I spotted this Smeg toaster at a kitchen appliance show a year or so ago and knew I needed to have it. Not only is it the most beautiful thing in my kitchen (sorry, Le Creuset Dutch oven), but it's also completely functional and makes perfect toast in minutes. You can currently buy this on Amazon for $150. Yes, it's not cheap. Not at all.
I imagine I'm not alone when I say I've always wanted a Smeg fridge, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. That's why I was thrilled with Smeg started offering smaller appliances like toasters and blenders. For a fraction of the price — which is still a lot of money — you can have a little bit of this Italian brand in your life.
Now, let's get down to the facts: This toaster can hold two pieces of toast at a time, and includes six browning levels. It is eight inches wide, 12 inches long, and seven inches high. It's certainly not small.
On Amazon the toaster currently comes in multiple colors including pink, pastel blue, red, and black. My favorite, however, is this pastel green one. It's vintage-y, but clean looking. There are also currently over 70 reviews on Amazon for the toaster and most of them are five stars.
