We are gearing up for our annual trip to IKEA and so we were excited to see this sneak preview of their new spring and summer releases, due out in February. Here's a peek at a few new things for the kitchen.
There's nothing terribly groundbreaking here — just gentle updates of old favorites. The new kitchen tools are especially unexciting — new whisk? New pancake turner? Oh yippee.
But we do like the striped and polka-dot trend in their new linens and we think we will almost certainly be picking up a few new towels in those patterns. And that origami tea cozy? Love!
We also love that LEENDE glass carafe; it's an inexpensive basic that will probably become a classic. (It's priced at $7.99.)
And finally, we also like their brightly-colored and stylishly-designed cleaning basics. A red broom may be just the thing our kitchen floor needs.
Have you found any good basics at IKEA lately?

haha i thought the same thing while looking at the pics....oh wow new utensils.......................
a kitchen basic that I've found at ikea is their plastic bag holder. It's not new, but it's pretty great. It comes with sticky tabs so you can mount it anywhere and it's only like $2.
I'm probably going to get yelled at now that nobody uses plastic bags anymore.... :[
plumeria - that was my impulse buy last time i was at Ikea - I thought I was going to regret it, but turns out I LOVE that thing - it's been a miracle for my closet!
Plumeria: some of us still use them. Plastic bags from the drugstore or grocery store fit my small bedside and bathroom wastebaskets much better than anything I can buy in the store. Thanks for the tip on the holder - I think I'll get one next Ikea trip!
I have a red broom, and it really does make sweeping a tad more fun. :)
I just made my semiannual trip and picked up the cute little pitcher and sugar bowl from the Gifts Under $10 guide, salad serving spoons and LOTS of tea towels.
Hmmm...great stuff for the next Kitchen Cure. What's wrong with the nice things you currently have in the kitchen?
sad, i am...that tea cozy isn't listed on the site. i wonder if they have yards of that material for sale? i'd *love* to make a purse out of it.
*will have yards of it. darn my early morning typing attempts!
