Q: I am taking a trip to Florida with my extended family, and as the trip coincides with the Super Bowl, we were planning a little family party. One of my sister-in-laws is essentially an egg-eating, no-soy vegan. What would be some good soy-free, vegan appetizers and mains for a Super Bowl party?
(Preferably without peanuts, as my son has a peanut allergy).

Bruschetta or crostini with roasted vegetables and garlic. It's handheld, easy to make, vegan, soy free, etc.
Hummus or any bean dip. Salsa and guacamole are both vegan by default. There are some decent vegan yogurts that you could use in place of sour cream in traditional dips. Daiya vegan cheese is surprisingly good, even as a non vegan I enjoy it.
As someone with severe "top 8" allergies who dates a vegan - this is something we work with every day. Some of our football favs are homemade Saag (spicy Indian spinach dip) and sweet potato chili (w/o chic peas) with fritos (which are perfectly just corn)
Popcorn, roasted chick peas, barbecued or buffalo tofu (easy to put on skewers) and fresh fruit. Spiced apple cider or vegan hot choclate to ward off the cold. If you are sushi proficient you could do cucumber sushi.
Last year we made Tex-Mex quinoa salad for a super bowl potluck. Included onions, peppers, corn, tomato, black beans, and avocado. Then blended some chipotles in adobo, lime juice, salt, oil, and cilantro in the mini food processors to make dressing. Brought a massive bowl, and not a drop was left.
Chickpea patties. They're like vegetarian chicken nuggets. Just leave out the cheddar or use vegan cheese. We ate them with guacamole.

Or roasted butternut black bean "meat balls" with a chipotle tamarind dipping sauce. (Once again, leave the cheese out or use vegan cheese!)

For the meal how about grillable vegan burgers (home made!) (You could could them on the stove as well)

and vegan coleslaw (it's creamy with almond aioli!)

or Beet dogs. They're delicious!! You boil them and then fry them in a skillet (I used butter, but you could use olive oil) My boys loved these, too!!

Deviled eggs (since she is egg-eating).
There are also some great vegan corn-bread recipes, either for muffins or to go with chili.
I'd do potato skins stuffed with black beans/chilis and topped with daiya vegan cheese (soy free).
We do a vegan superbowl party every year. We make vegan hot wings with homemade seitan, coleslaw and black bean salad, loaded baked potato skins, and we pick up a package of Doritos (only one variey is vegan, it's gross but only once a year!).
On the hot wings theme--I had a cauliflower version once that was unbelievably good. The non-vegans ate it with crumbled blue cheese and ranch dressing and were thrilled. I was not the chef so don't know the recipe, but it was your basic roasted cauliflower, generous size pieces, coated in a tangy, spicy sauce, and served alongside cool sticks of celery to counteract the spiciness. WOW good crunchy tangy spicy snack.
Popcorn! I make stovetop popcorn for movie nights, with different toppings (salt, a fancy olive oil and balsamic vinegar, different spices and spice mixes). I'm not vegan, but I enjoy a lot of non-butter variations just as much as the buttery ones.
These are AWESOME! Thank you so much, I really can't wait to try each and every one!
Jackfruit carnitas!! I absolutely love them, super easy and super yummy!

Hey everyone! I'm the original poster. Thank you so much for all of these great ideas! We are spending a week together so I will definitely be trying a lot of your suggestions to get everyone fed. Thanks again!
This is an awesome resource for vegan food:

Your easiest and most stress free bets are the already mentioned chips and salsa, and guac. As a fellow vegan I'm a little over hummus so try mixing it up with a can of vegetarian re-fried beans mixed with salsa. Want to go above and beyond? Make a trip to one of the many FL stores that sells Nacho Mom's Vegan queso. It is soy free, tasty and bonus crazy low fat (http://fatgoblin.com/Where_to_find_us.html). For a main why not pick up some pizza dough and have everyone make their own pizzas. It's easy, doesn't make the vegan feel singled out, and everyone loves game day pizza!
that's not vegan. that is a lacto-vegetarian. knowing that might help googling some recipes.
The Silver Palate's vegetable chili http://t.co/gRJpxWSx pleases the meat lovers too.
Eggplant parmigiana sandwiches, using vegan/vegetarian cheese instead of mozzarella.

We did this last year, except we quadrupled it and sliced them in half. The wife nearly died when she had one and found out there was no meat in it.
We have a ton of vegan pals and a ton of parties so here are a few ideas, hope they help!
Sides: Vegan macaroni salad (use veganeise, vinegar, and sugar for the dressing), hummus, guacamole, black bean dip, vegan nachos (Tortilla chips, salsa, vegan cheese, and morningstar crumbles)
Grilling ideas: portobella burgers and veggie kabobs.
Dessert: Fruit skewers, strawberries dipped in dark chocolate
Here's a list of items deemed accidentally "vegan":

Good luck and go Ravens!
She's not vegan if she eats eggs. That would make her an ovo-vegetarian. (Not a lacto-vegetarian as someone said above.)
That said. Portobello burger. Vegan chili and guacamole. The sweet-potato-lentil shepherd's pie on here is out of this world.
Thanks again for the great comments! You have all been very helpful.
Just for the record though- I know she's not a true vegan because of the egg eating. I just stated it like that for simplicity.
I would love to grill something, but unfortunately we won't have access to a grill. We are renting condo-type accommodations and I'm not even sure what kind of cooking implements will be on hand. I was thinking about doing a taco bar for the Super Bowl and incorporating a lot of your suggestions as potential toppings, along with cheese and meat for the non-vegetarians. Then everyone could just choose what they wanted to include. What do you think?
We made this quinoa and it was absolutely delicious! Thanks for the recipe TribecaGal.
