I am a mother and grandmother. I love the kids. I don't think they need to think the world revolves around them, however. Whatever happened to simple cake and ice cream parties with a few simple games? Where every kid, no matter how well-off or not, had a similar party and didn't need to feel bad because someone else in their class or circle had a much more elaborate party.
Who are these parties really for - the kids or the self-involved helicopter parents or grandparents who think they need to one-up their friends?
I think these ideas are great and are a sign of creative people who like to entertain and host parties for their family and friends. It shows that if you think outside of the box, you can have an amazing and affordable DIY birthday party, no professional party planners needed!
