Here's our first kitchen makeover in this year's February Jumpstart! Kendra took a small amount of money and just about a week, and she painted her cabinets. Take a look at the "before" below the jump; what a dramatic difference!

BEFORE

TOOLS:
Paint and Brushes/Rollers (Pittsburgh Paint)
Painter's Tape
Kitchen Accessories

STEPS:
Remove all kitchen items
Tape off all "detailing" (take your time.)
Paint walls and trim
Style with kitchen items

I'm going to paint my kitchen in May..I carribbean "Le Creuset" Blue if my landlord agrees:) I think its one of the best way to freshen up a space and I'm quite excited it

This is probably a stupid question, but what are those two appliances side by side? Two baby refrigerators? A baby fridge and a baby freezer? I'm intrigued by the idea of keeping fridge space horizontal in a little kitchen so there's usable countertop overhead...

Such a difference! Great job. Re: Kaete's appliance quesion...this really looks like a typical NYC kitchen so I'm guessing those would be a dishwasher and compact fridge/freezer. And the paint price sounds about right to me. Although I'm not familiar with Pittsburgh Paint, I pay $54/gal for Dunn-Edwards Interior Latex when I do my yearly touch up, and going from dark to light, or reverse, takes a few coats even with a primer.

What paint color did you use? You got new dishes, too. They look great!

Is the vent over the range gone? I think I would have kept that...looks great otherwise, esp. the arrangement of tools etc. over the sink. Very convenient.

My name is Brad, and I am Kendra's husband.
Thank you for all the nice compliments, you've made our day!

When we bought this 419 sq ft condo, located in Boston's South End neighborhood, the 1st thing we felt needed to be spruced up, was the kitchen and bathroom.

The paint color in the kitchen is a Chocolate Brown with a
Milk White trim, again by Pittsburgh Paint. As for the bathroom, the color is Jet Black and again Milk White,
with Peacock Toile wallpaper.

As for all the appliances, I simply applied a metallic paint.
It's a specific paint, made for metal and plastic surfaces
available at any hardware store. The side by side appliances are in fact 1 mini fridge and 1 mimi freezer.

We did remove the NON-WORKING Stove Vent for aesthetic purposes. Makes sense, right?
