Q: My husband and I just moved into a new house and received a signing bonus for his new job. With the extra money, we can either put in a range hood (there was no exterior duct work or hood when we bought the house) or put in new granite countertops, a sink, and a backsplash (we currently have ugly laminate and a bad sink).
We are trying to decide which one would be the right choice. We do cook a lot and have a nice stove, but the counters would add better resale value to the house. Which would you pick?

Editor: Congratulations on the new house, Chelsea! What a tough choice — those both seem like good kitchen upgrades. Readers, what do you think Chelsea should upgrade in her kitchen?
