Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

I mean really, who has that kind of time!!!
I would never, ever make anything like this for myself, but it would be a fun surprise for a kid's birthday lunch. I like the orange flower.
I find the ones that look like people seriously discomfiting... despite the obvious skill and creativity
I want Calvin & Hobbes!
Creative and fun to look at, but for lunch in the real world? I don't think so. Sometimes I don't have the time to fully prepare a sandwich, instead all the things to make it just get tossed in a bag and get assembled at work.
ha ha ha.... I made a face on my pancake, too:-) http://7th-taste.com/2010/12/20/danish-christmas-pastry-drink-aebleskiver-glogg/ It's fun! Why not?
Just for the record, this sort of thing existed long, long before Pinterest. Try an image search for "bento box".
They all look so amazing, I don't have the patience or energy to do all that when I'm going to devour it in under 2 minutes :)
I miss Calvin and Hobbes:(
I always wonder what happens to all of the food that doesn't make it into the cute cuts. I mean, what happens to all the cheese that falls outside the edges of the cookie cutter? Does it just get thrown out? Or does the parent just take a really ugly lunch of all of the left over bits that don't make it into the kids' cute lunches?
That's how we found a lot of these in the first place!
these are so funny! I was going to be all snarky about who has the time, but it's just so entertaining and life can use bits of silly like this. I mean, I would question someone's sanity or priorities if they did this everyday . . .
I save bread scraps in a ziplock in the fridge (which I then use over and over) and make French Toast Casserole Muffins, homemade breadcrumbs, or croutons. Because we're gluten-free now, it's even more useful to save my scraps! And no one blinks twice at eating the heels when they're in a yummy French Toast muffin!
For veggies and such, I toss the scraps into soups sometimes, but usually my salad. I did the snowflake salad at the end there, and the scraps (plus carrot scraps from my daughter's lunch) are chopped up and mixed in under the layer of spinach I put on top to make the kohlrabi snowflakes pop more.
Meats and cheese scraps are great in omelets, Quiche Breakfast Muffins, quesadillas, grilled sandwiches (so the cheese scraps can melt and not fall out!) mini pita pocket sandwiches, or pocket sandwiches (where I use a tool to seal the edges so the bits stay inside.) Or added to home-made or home-baked pizza. And I often put the "ugly" scraps in the Baby's lunch, since they're easier for her to manage than big slices. And in my lunches, with some crackers.
Everyone has the time to do what they love. Some knit, some watch sports games, some watch the latest reality TV, some scrapbook, some take various amounts of extra time to make a fun lunch.
I also pack the night before, and add anything that might get soggy in the morning instead, so I'm not strapped for time and rushing around. I just watch one less show a night, or don't check Facebook that one last time before going to bed.
We all make time for our passions.
"Who has the time?" asked the blog readers. Hilarious.
Any hoo, these lunches look awesome & if making food more visually appealing can get anyone to eat healthier, all the better.
This Quaker speaks my mind.
Cute ideas!
I think they're fun, although I agree that eating a face seems a bit creepy, and there's no way I could manage to make most of these. My toddler is definitely having her Easter lunch served in eggs though. That is so cute.
I think they're very cute and I like that each one has lots of fruits and veggies. Most of these though it looks like they are lacking in protein. Maybe its just not visible. Plus some of the foods are colored, like that blue rice and the purple hummus? Not very appetizing.
