Hot Fudge & Beyond: 9 Sauces to Drizzle Over Ice Cream

Recipes from The Kitchn

Probably the easiest and most welcome dessert in the summertime is a big bowl of ice cream, drizzled with hot fudge. It's so simple to bring out a quart of decent store-bought ice cream, but serving it with a homemade sauce really puts it over the top and transforms it from a weeknight dessert into something extra-special.

Here are nine delicious sauces, from essential hot fudge to an Oreo twist on the classic, and for you maximalists, a creamy candy bar sauce. Want to go lighter and fresher? Warm raspberry or fresh cherry is where it's at.

Any of these sauces will really set off that after-dinner dish of ice cream. And nearly all of them can be made ahead of your dinner party and stored in the fridge. Heck, if you're going to a vacation cabin with a pack of friends, make a big jar of fudge sauce, bring it along, and be the dessert hero of the hour.

Serving Tip! If you want to get even fancier for a dinner party, try slicing your pint or quart of ice cream instead of scooping it, and serving the slices on pretty plates drizzled with one of these sauces.
