This Kickstarter Wants to Make Your Cheap Beer Taste Better

To update a popular saying: Do you have craft beer tastes but a light beer budget? If so, Hop Theory might be your new favorite product.

The sachets, which look like fancy tea bags, are designed to give your favorite brew — or whatever you have in your pint glass — an extra dose of flavor. The project is currently in the funding stages on Kickstarter, and it's the first in our new series looking at food- and cooking-related crowdfunding projects.

Hop Theory's idea is twofold. First, they realize there are customers out there who want the taste of craft beer but don't always have the access or funds to drink it. Second, they recognize that even craft beers are ripe for customization, and that adding extra flavors can truly personalize your favorite brew.

Hop Theory plans to launch with one blend, the Relativity Blend, to start with. Each sachet will include a mix of Cascade hops, dried orange peel, and coriander seeds. As the project hits different funding milestones, they will work to develop additional blends to let you truly customize your beer.

What Will It Take to Make Hop Theory a Reality?

We'll be excited to try the Hop Theory sachets in our favorite beers this summer, but we'd love to know what you think. Would you buy them?
