- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- It's bright, inviting, functional and one will always leave well fed.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- When we purchased the house the kitchen was in need of a makeover. The cabinetry was vintage which looked cool but wasn't functional. When one would need a pot or pan climbing into the cabinets to retrieve them was unavoidable. Also, whenever the drawers were used they would deposit sawdust into the cabinets below requiring washing of the pots and pans prior to using. That was lame.We fixed the problem by gutting all the existing cabinets and installing rolling drawers that bring the pots and pans out to you.
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- Our midday meal. We have a large midday meal after going to the gym or for a long family bike ride (or both!) before my husband heads to his evening job. This meal is our family meal. As for favorite dish to cook it would be anything that is seasonal and fresh from my CSA share!

No way, Holly!! I have the exact same color scheme in my kitchen across the river in St. Paul. I've been thinking of submitting it!!!
@DANIELLEM Yes they are IKEA. We remodeled last spring and so far they have held up well. I was a little nervous that the quality may not be so great and I am one that is not easy on things. I use my kitchen quite a bit. I spend an average of three hours a day in it and so far I have been happy with the installation.
@Okmosa Cool! It was tough to take the leap but I knew I wanted a bright and cheerful kitchen and by using orange it would be easier to achieve that! I think it's funny that I chose paint with food names. The orange is benjamin moore sharp cheddar and the walls are benjamin moore artichoke hearts!
is that a high BTU range. Please consider putting a vent over it (that vents outside) Don't think the proximity to the fridge is a good thing either but the vent is a safety issue. Otherwise this is one bright colorful kitchn!
@May Yes we eventually plan to put a hood over the stove but ran out of money from the full remodel. The house in my head with unlimited remodel finances is gorgeous!!

I love color and lots of it too but I don't think that orange goes with that red although I do like orange and red go together. I bet your pictures don't do that kitchen justice.
Love the colors and wanted this to be a favorite but I'm not a fan of open shelving. Nicely done though.
