Straw Mat from The ...

Check out Marshalls, TJMaxx or Homegoods- I always find awesome kitchen stuff there for crazy prices. We put together a "kitchen gift basket" for my mother-in-law's birthday from Marshalls for about $35 (cookbook, new knife, small cutting board, sea salt, nice honey) and she loved it (and probably thought we spent much more!)
I have a couple of the paring knives (#2) and a larger chef knife that I bought at Williams-Sonoma. They are great! I take mine on picnics and camping. The bright colors make them easy to find in a tub full of camping gear.
if anyone has a boscov's still open near them, they are the absolute best for ridiculously cheap kitchen ware.
i second marshall's too.
World Market has some surprisingly reasonable prices on kitchen gadgets, I lucked out finding lots of neat stocking-stuffer kinds of things (tea infusers, nifty measuring cups, kitchen timers and the like.)
Great suggestions, thanks.
Those Calphalon spoons aren't that great...I got them three months ago on from our wedding registry and they're already splintering and splitting. :( I've had better luck with a 5-pack of plastic ones I got at Walmart for $2.
