This looks fabulous! I would make a Turkey Caprese Panini (Turkey, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Basil and Mozzarella) YUM!
sun dried tomatoes, baby spinach and vegan cheese!
well, I've just perfected my recipe for ciabata at home, so this would be a perfect pan for using that, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers and whatever else looks good at the market that day. With some balsamic vinegar of course. Now I'm hungry!
Mmmm... what would I make with this happy green panini press? Mango and brie on francese. Covet worthy as well. Thanks for introducing more beautiful colors to the prizes! Oh, and Happy Holidays everyone.
I have had a set of Le Creuset since I was first married and REALLY broke. Now that I look back on what an extravigant yet practical investment i made at that time with great pride. Let this lovely pan find it way to join it's 30 year old, much loved and used brethren.
I would make my favorite sandwich in favor of the pan's French origins: a croque monsieur. Good ham, swiss or gruyere, a slathering of dijon mustard (and my little addition: mayo), covered in butter and toasted. Then, a quick transfer to the oven to melt some more cheese on top. Mmmm!
Ooh, I'd do pear, prosciutto, and pecorino cheese with arugula and balsamic vinegar on homemade focaccia bread!
My absolute favorite is: first you take two slices of rustic rosemary sourdough bread, spread some homemade kalamata olive tapenade on one side of both slices, then on one slice put a couple of slices fresh vine ripened tomato on top of the tapenade, then put a couple of basil leaves, and then top with a couple of slices of fresh buffalo mozzarella, put the other tapenade covered slice of bread on top of the mozzarella. Light coat both slices of bread with a little olive oil and "panini" it for a few minutes until golden brown, crusty and oozing tasty melted cheese. When the tomatoes aren't in season, I'll just leave them off.
This looks amazing. I love grilling sandwiches with apple, sharp cheddar and lots of black pepper. Now I'm hungry and it's not even close to lunchtime...
I'd make apple and gorgonzola for me, and I'd do gorgonzola, fig spread, and prosciutto for my husband. My local grocery has started selling Bread Alone bread, so I finally have some good bread to use!
my partner would love grilled cheese with tomato!

I'd make my current favorite -- bacon, pear, gorgonzola, a little arugula on sourdough ...
My mouth is literally watering at the thought of this...
I am a poor graduate student. A Le Crueset pannini press would add a touch of class to my standard grilled cheese dinner.... Plus, green is such a festive color for the winter.
Cook's Illustrated email newsletter the other day had a grilled and pressed jack cheese, pickled jalapeno, bacon-turkey-avocado sammie that would hit the spot right now... too bad I'm snowed in...
The boyfriend and I recently made turkey, brie and pesto on sourdough, grilled-cheese style, but it would have been SO much better made on this! And such a great color! Yay kiwi!
A grilled cheese and banana sandwich. It's a Brazilian classic! White cheese (I think queso blanco will do in the states), banana slices, a little cinnamon, and butter. Yum!
A caprese panini on fresh ciabatta bread - summer or winter, there is nothing better than fresh mozzarella, basil and tomato all melted together.
Oh... want, want, want... I would christen this beautiful grill pan with a sandwich made of brie, apples, and bacon on slices of french bread. And then I would wake up the next morning to grill pannetone with cream cheese and cranberry chutney.

In my circle of friends there is what we call a "Jessie sandwich" after our friend who eats the same thing for lunch every day: Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and arugula on crusty bread that's been drizzled with balsamic vinegar and herbs de provence. I've never had it grilled though!
Grilled cheese with fresh mozzarella, roma tomatoes and fresh basil. Yum! Thanks for the contest.

Ohh, my favorite is a peppery, garlicky mozzarella, prosciutto, and asparagus hot sandwich... probably on ciabatta!

i'd throw a grilled cheese party like domino magazine showed back in 2005. it was a big hit with my book club and the gorgonzola and honey sounds delicious today as i watch the snow fall. mmm and maybe a simple grilled nutella sandwich or two!
oozing natural cheddar on thick sourdough - my husband has been asking for one of these for a few years now... so he can have it next to his (infamous) homemade tomato soup.
Oh, man could we use this seeing as how the bf eats sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch. Since I have half of a perfectly roasted pork loin sitting in the fridge, I'd make a panini with some slices of the pork, sauteed apples, a little arugula, maybe a mild swiss cheese, and mayo infused with cranberry and rosemary. Yummy!
I'M ALWAYS THINKING OF NEW WAYS TO MAKE FOOD. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT WAY TO SKAKE THINGS UP FOR MY FAMILY.
Mine would have roasted squash, black beans, and Vermont cheddar.

hold on.. wiping the drool...
Considering it's winter, I think I'd adapt a dish my mom used to make on the snowiest winter days to sandwich form. A few slices of grilled polska kielbasa, caramelized onions and apples seasoned with cinnamon, and a slightly sharp cheddar between slices of a hearty multi-grain bread (best eaten immediately, before the apples make the bread too soggy).
I would love to make a sweet panini -- thinly sliced banana, chocolate bar or Nutella -- on challah bread! I'm just drooling now thinking about it....

I would love to make a chocolate panini. mmmm....
I think I'd turn my kitchen into a food lab and experiment with different ingredients to find the.best.pannini.ever. It would definitely involve cheese - goat cheese, maybe feta, maybe harvarti, perhaps a sprinkling of asiago. Then bring on the marinated red peppers, the hot peppers, the diced kalamatas or the capers. Shred the beef, or the chicken, or the portabellos. In general I'd have a pannini party and let people go nuts.
And it's in kiwi too! Cute!

A leftover fanatic...I have combo-ed everything from steak and potato skins to tuna steak with balsamic vinegar, honey and tomato slices, going as far as leftover turkey, green bean casserole, and cranberry relish on grilled paska bread...YUMMY. This Pan --would certainly EX--Pan--D the possibilities!
A hot toasty sandwich after a hard workout at the gym..hmmm good!!
I would make a grilled Fluffer Nutter!!!
I would make a grilled cheese with ham and thin slices of apple.
Oh just where do I begin?
The first panini would probably have to be a delicious mozzarella and black olive tapenade, grilled to perfection until the cheese starts to melt. The bread has to be a sturdy rye with a nice hearty flavor. Multi-grain batard? Oh perhaps rye boule? I'll wait for the pan to arrive to let the inspiration would strike.
On a sweeter note, a combination of quince jam and goat cheese would marry to create a wonderful mouthwatering flavor fest. If you are thinking brioche - forget it, that would only spoil things. The bread has to be substantial enough to provide a pleasing counter-tone to the jam sweetness.
I guess that'll do it for now. :)
Mmmm. Goat cheese, carmelized onions, and spinach!
We just moved, and the thing I miss the most is the most amazing little Italian market that was around the corner from us. I would try to re-create their sandwiches-- my favorites always involved fresh basil.

I think a better question is what kind of sandwich WOULDN'T I make with this pan! The first that comes to mind is my favorite 'little kid lunch' of grilled bologna and cheese on white with a bowl of cream of tomato soup garnished with Cheez-its. Day two, it would have to be capricola and asiago on scali bread spread with a thin layer of dijon mustard before grilling. Day Three, I think a breakfast sandwich of thinly sliced Canadian bacon and an egg over medium with extra pepper on a Wolferman's sourdough english muffin. Damn. Now I'm really hungry.

Okay, so I was going for the turkey and swiss..then I read some of these entries and I am going to try some of these other suggestions...wow...I mean...grilled chicken breast, fresh mozzarella, basil, red onion, tomato and garlic mayo on sourdough bread or grilled cheese with ham and thin slices of apple or even Turkey, cranberry sauce, sweet onions (carmelized)& a good white cheese on a crisp thinly sliced homemade bread! Carmelized! Where are these cooks in my life!? My life is too boring..I need, I mean I NEED this pan! It could change my life!

Good bread, swiss & salami!
That's the beauty---the possibilities are nearly endless. I'd use the panini press to focus more on vegetables and spreads, and less on meat. It's my resolution for the new year beginning today to rely less on meat, and I'm hoping my partner stays amenable to that, but for him (and maybe me) part of the trick will be to keep presentation and preparation interesting. That's one reason why the panini press would be brilliant: it ensures that we keep licking our chops, figuring out the perfect combination of flavors.
I love to cook. I would do a turkey melt with provolone cheese!
I do love grilled spicy jack cheese on rye - have been looking at this pan for some time now.

32 degree days mean in Sydney its not melted cheese I'm craving to put under that grill, but mango cheeks with fresh shredded coconut - seared and pressed to intensify the flavours and then refreshed with lime juice and greedily consumed with a sparkling pink grapefruit juice, campari and fresh holy basil leaves cocktail to drink on the side. I would recreate my favorite panini from our favorite restaurant in Manila.
We used to order the same thing every time we visited Area Cafe on the third floor (of six) of MegaMall. It was a refuge from the constant noise of the huge city.
It had grilled eggplant, fresh basil, a marinara sauce, and feta cheese. Always served with chips and aeoli. I usually had it with a latte (cafe style, not Starbuck's).

Cheese seems to be a favorite...it is mine! I won't gussy it up with anything too fancy or "hip." I just want a thick, perfectly melted cheese sandwich using a combo of monterey jack and mild cheddar, along with some tomato soup to keep me toasty on a snowy day. Simple is sometimes the best.
Turkey, red peppers, swiss cheeese, and ranch dressing, yummy!

Slice in half and serve.

A leftover turkey panini would be delish with turkey, a bit of stuffing and mashed potatoes and a thin layer of cran sauce.
When I was living in New York City a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant opened up around the corner from my work that sold nothing but grilled cheese! This was my first introduction to what is now my favorite sandwich: Two thick pieces of a hearty wholegrain bread spread with kalamata olive tapenade. Thick slices of juicey tomato. And lots of high-quality extra sharp cheddar. Slathered with butter and toasted to perfection with a panini press. Of course I haven't had a panini since I was diagnosed with celiac disease and had to become gluten-free, but if I had a panini press of my own I could relive the deliciousness of my favorite sandwich, this time on gluten-free bread.

I know that this will no doubt disgust AT readers... in fact it's a little gross to me too. However, I grew up in rural Iowa, and everyday that it is a little chilly and damp outside here in SF/EASTBAY (which is a large chunk of the winter months) I relish my childhood, biting into my grandma's special grilled cheese sandwhich. No gruyere, no brie or even sharp cheddar. No, this sandwich of sandwiches was made with Velveeta sliced off the block. The bread was squishy white Wonderbread from the day-old bakery shop slathered on both outsides with a healthy (or not so) layer of real soft butter out of the giant tub in the refrigerator. While the first side of the sandwich toasted on the skillet (we didn't have a fancy panini pan!) she would start to ladle out the first bowl of condensed Campbell's tomato soup into a big mug. mmmm Even though I've grown up, moved to California and begun to explore much more exciting meals... there's something really tasty with gram's highly processed, industrial produced winter wonderfulness.
apple, cheddar, salami melt
