All that scary research on the dangers of high-fructose corn syrup has us doubly determined to avoid the stuff. Fortunately for us, maple syrup tastes far, far better and, according to Social Workout, it is actually full of antioxidants, calcium, and other good things.
Hey, we will take just about any excuse to have more maple syrup!

Too bad the harvest was so awful this year because of the wacky weather in New England and the East coast.....
Maple syrup is so much tastier than corn syrup! I use it all the time. I wish the Grade B were easier to find, though. It's yummier than Grade A.
Unfortunately maple syrup is way out of my budget (where I live anyway)
trader joes has a combo maple syrup agave and it's way cheaper than the real deal (as in fake mrs butterworths cheap!) and i think agave is supposed to be not quite so bad for you as the fake stuff. try that!
@lotusmoss - my friend in Vermont said their harvest was outstanding. He's even going to trade me a whole gallon for delicious baked goods!
Maple is so unfortunately expensive here. Rainbow has it in bulk so it's cheaper than anywhere else, but it is still $$$.
wasn't there a big deal recently about how Agave "nectar" is actually really bad for you because it's a high-fructose product like corn syrup?
Ditto lotusmoss -- most syrup producers only made about 15-20% of what they would in a normal year. But whatever the price, I only use pure maple syrup. I'd rather use a little of something really yummy than a lot of something terrible.
i don't really like the taste of maple syrup, but i rarely use syrup for any purpose so it doesn't really matter.
d4kk1tt3n - there was A deal, but not a big deal and there is a lot of question about it. the leading anti-agave spokesman has a very questionable pedigree and the process of making agave syrup he claims is standard is not.
I use maple syrup all the time, I go through a case of it each year (that's 12 500ml can).
Is maple syrup really that expensive in other parts of the country? I live in New England, granted, but I've never found the cost prohibitive (and it's SO worth it -- it can be used to add a wonderful flavor to pretty much anything that otherwise would use sugar).
I love maple syrup! I wish I could eat it all day every day. The fake stuff just doesn't cut it. I'd rather have no syrup at all than not have real maple.
I use maple syrup to sweeten things that most people wouldn't think of... like my homemade tomato soup. It only needs a little and no one can tell what I've used.
