When it comes to storing kitchen tools out in the open, there is no shortage of stainless steel systems out there. They're all sleek and streamlined in design, but their prices run the gamut:
Here's a list of the rails pictured up top (prices are for the rails only):
- Rösle Open Kitchen, $18-$50
- Matfer Bourgeat, $55
- Leifheit, $18
- Grundtal by IKEA, $7-$11
- Vario Comfort by WMF, $35-$50

Straw Mat from The ...

My husband and I swear by the Grundtal system from Ikea. We have on over the sink that houses a hanging spice rack and a bunch of utensils, one on another wall in the kitchen that houses cookware and one more in the bedroom where we hang all our jeans!
They are super easy to install and have all kinds of different things you can buy to hang on there. And obviously because they're Ikea, everything is super inexpensive.
I have the grundtal pole in my kitchen. I have a full spice racket on it, 5 or so hooks, and a paper towel holder and for some odd reason it bows down slightly in the middle. Not sure how. Has this happened to anyone else?
I recently installed the Grundtal wall shelf, two of them, in my kitchen, the Grundtal magnetic knife, and the Grundtal coat/hat rack. I love them. Maximizes the little storage space my tiny apartment gives me.
We too swear by Grundtal. The magnetic knife rack is amazing, they are cheap, and the round rails are no-fuss and easy to keep clean. I have rails for all my stove-related utensils, as well as setting pot lids (inserting them from above so the lid handle keeps them from slipping out).
I also use a Grundtal rack--which I remember costing well under $20--for a pot rack! If you properly anchor them (preferably right into a wood beam or stud), you can both set pots on top and hang them from below. Works great!
