Want to give your opinion on the brand-new studio kitchen we're building at our office in New York? Come take a look at how it's shaping up and tell us which kind of tile you think we should have on our backsplash!
What's Happening in the Kitchen
Our studio kitchen will be the location of many food shoots and more in our SoHo office. It's getting built out this month with cottage-style cabinets from IKEA, and a mix of butcher block and white Caesarstone countertops. You can see the whole list of current resources below. It will be a fun, bright mix — nothing too fancy, but clean and light.
Current Selected Resources
- Butcher Block Countertop
- Organic White Countertops
- Brass Crescent Handles
- Vertical Brass Handles
- Brass Knobs
- Kitchen Faucet
- Frigidaire Professional Line
So, what's still missing? One word: Color! As much as we love all things white, we think the best kitchens have a splash of warm color somewhere in the mix. We're going to mix in some color in a tiled backsplash on the back wall.

Tile: A Splash of Color
We're going to use encaustic cement tiles (did you see our roundup today of this gorgeous material?) and as we do love our yellow around here — the color of egg yolks, French mustard, and butter pound cake — we're looking at warm gold tones.
Here are a few modern tiles that we love. Tell us — which one is your favorite? Take the survey below, or tell us in the comments if you have an even better idea!
All tile options in this list are from Popham Design.
