Q: Last year I had a dessert in Rome that I've been obsessing over since. It was strawberries and cream with a cookie/biscuit/shortbread part that I'm having a hard time figuring out. It was buttery, crumbly, flaky and light— sort of like if shortbread and puff pastry had a baby. Can your readers help me recreate this dessert?
I've tried both shortbread (the Bouchon recipe) and puff pastry, but it's just not the same. Has anyone had this dessert before? Can anyone place what the mystery part might be by looking at the photo?
