Q: I recently moved into a new place with a convection oven. I've never cooked with this kind of oven before and have no idea when or how to use it. Do you have any tips for using a convection oven and how to adjust recipes?

Editor: My best advice would be to look through your user manual (or search for the manual online if you don't have the original). This will give you lots of details about how to use your awesome new oven! Here are a few other posts to check out:

No advice- but super jealous over here!
Generally speaking, you reduce the temperature by 25 degrees, and the cooking time by about 15%, but you really have to watch what is happening in the oven- especially with baked goods. Turkeys seem to cook awfully fast in my convection oven.
I usually just reduce cooking time by about 25% and check on the food. It's usually done, but sometimes needs a little longer.
My convection oven doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to. I was hoping for faster cooking times, but baked items just don't turn out right, so I just use the conventional cooking (my oven has both options).
My advice is to NOT try using the convection option this week if possible, unless you are cooking items that are forgiving & you don't need to stress over anyway.
How do you cook a convection oven? Well first off you need to get yourself a very big oven, and some pretty big oven mitts too. And maybe a forklift.
jess13, thank you for saying what I was thinking.
yes, jess13, that's why I clicked too...ha ha!
Ditto Jess13 :-) Thanks for the chuckle.
