Heather and Paul are an artistic duo from Cape Town. Heather works as a textile designer (we love her kitchen towels!) and Paul is a mixed media artist. They have transformed their free form pad into a delightfully colorful and inspiring space. They've even switched around some rooms to create their picture perfect kitchen.
The couple actually switched their back bedroom with the kitchen so that they could create a space that they truly loved. They weren't afraid to call in reinforcements — they are lucky enough to have an architect friend and they knew the importance of getting a professional opinion for such a large project.
The final result was well worth the blood, sweat and tears. The color palette certainly isn't run of the mill and that's what makes it so successful. Green cabinets, red backsplash with wooden countertops really creates a unique kitchen.
We think it's really interesting that there are no top cabinets — instead, shelving above the stove and shelving units located throughout the kitchen provide the necessary storage space. The bright, multicolored cookware that occupies the shelves adds pops of color.
There's certainly plenty to be inspired by in this kitchen.
