Q: Does anyone remember the salad loaf? It's a loaf of bread cut lengthwise; topped with a layer of egg salad, tuna salad, and chicken salad; and then frosted with a cream cheese frosting? I'm trying to remember what goes in the "frosting."

Editor: Sounds like 1950s party food to me! It also reminds me of Smörgåstårta, a Swedish savory cake made from bread and your sandwich filling of choice. Often times the "frosting" is mayo-based. Whether the concept of a sandwich cake appeals to you or not, they're fun to explore. Take a look at the 15 we've rounded up. You might even feel inclined to whip one up!
