I recently discovered a blog called Handwritten Recipes. Have you heard of it? You can probably imagine what it's about, given the title, but there's a twist: the blog, written by a bookseller, is all about the handwritten recipes he finds stuck between the pages of old books. It's fun and also strangely moving to discover these forgotten recipes again, and in the most unusual of places.
Each post on Handwritten Recipes ("a collection of curious and wonderful recipes forgotten between the pages") features a scanned photo of the scribbled recipe, along with a photo of the book in which it was found. If you can't read the handwriting, the recipe is transcribed should you want to try it yourself! An odd, interesting peek into invisible lives. If you like imagining histories, you'll enjoy scrolling through this blog.
