We wouldn’t last five minutes on a show like Top Chef, but that doesn’t mean we don’t harbor the fantasy. And who among us hasn’t daydreamed about being asked to “pop in” to one of Ina Garten’s special gatherings? Oh, the witty things we would say! Where would you love to put in a guest appearance?
If I had to pick just one, my top choice would be as a guest judge on Iron Chef. Definitely not competing - no way I could take the heat of Kitchen Stadium. But sitting up at that judges’ table and giving with Alton Brown about my opinion of diver scallops? I’d be there in a heartbeat.
An extremely close second would be joining Anthony Bourdain for one of his meals on No Reservations. In my head, I would be able to match him offal for offal while maintaining a steady stream of entertaining conversation. And hey, this is my fantasy, right?
What about you? Which show would you like to be on?

Floral Drink Dispen...

Hmmm...Barefoot Contessa to see that fabulous house and 'barn' up close. Jamie Oliver to bask in his amazing energy and spirit. Nigella Lawson becuz she makes everything seem amazing and approachable. I could go on, but I think that's enough for one fantasy!
Oh, this is easy: in the kitchen with Ina at her home in the Hamptons-and then dining afterwards in that gorgeous garden of hers. Sign me up!
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't envy Ina's florist/landscaping/magazine editor/high end deli friends. I would provide flower arrangements in a heart beat if she wanted to invite me over.
Iron Chef America is a definite close second though.
I'd like to travel with and assist Andreas Viestad on any of his Kitchen of Light episodes.
The one where they blow up my entire house and build me a new one from scratch... starting with the marble kitchen island with integrated dishwasher. :)
Love to be with Nigella Lawson, but I'd prefer the cameras aren't around for that. ;) If they cameras have to stay, I'd really like to visit Ina at her barn, love to guest judge on Top Chef in some gloriously intriguing location, and maybe travel with Bourdain, but only if Samir comes along.
Definitely with the Brits:
#1: Nigel Slater on Simple Suppers
#2: Hugh FW and crew, hanging around River Cottage
#3: Jamie Oliver in his Jamie at Home series
I would love nothing more than to take a trip to Tokyo with Tony Bourdain! Or, roll around in Jamie's Garden ;)
In the passenger seat of Guy's car, stopping at every drive-in, diner, and dive!!!!
I would love to spend an afternoon harvesting fresh veg from Jaime Oliver's garden, and hang out with him while cooking up a delicious feast! He's so laid back and just plain cool.
And I'd probably sneak something off the set of Jaime at Home. Love the vintage wares.
@ Greatfriend- I'll ride in the backseat for any of Guy's trips! I could also see myself traveling with A. Bourdain or challenging Bobby Flay to a soul or mexican food cookoff.
However, I must admit, I'd stop by the Neelys place just to smack them into reality. No couple is THAT happy in the kitchen cooking together, lol
Ina for sure! I love everything about her show - the house, the friends, and of course the food!
GOOD EATS with Alton Brown -- without a single doubt.
I would want to sit in on some Man v. Food challenges- I can put food AWAY and I often watch Adam and think, I could do that!
Also anything at all relating to River Cottage/Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. I want nothing more than to be one of his West Dorset contributors, helping him fleece lambs or butcher his pigs.
I'd "jump the pond" to cook and eat with Nigella Lawson and then do some baking with Rachel Allen. I'd then return to North America to Montreal to hang with Nadia G on Bitchen Kitchen.
anything with Jamie Oliver!!!
I'd dig
* hanging out & getting drunk with Bourdain
* making a fool out of myself - and a big mess - on "Chopped"
* Sweating like a grill slave on Food Truck Race
I have friends who have worked with Guy Fieri and say he's a HUGE DOUCHEBAG. He *refuses* to eat or profile ANY dishes with eggs. EGGS. On a "diners" show? I'd love to be on his show just to give him a haircut, shave, and duct tape his mouth shut.
Yeah, Jamie Oliver is my pick. I love his easy style of cooking. And the Barefoot Contessa - just to see the lovely homes she cooks in, although everything else is a bit staged.
Man v. Food. He picks such good sounding items and they're huge to boot!
Anthony Bourdain would be amazing, but I'd also have to say Jamie Oliver...just because.
Ina!! and while not 100% devoted to cooking, I'd love to go on Martha's show too. she always has such fabulous guest chefs, bakers, and homecooks!
if this is a fantasy question...
1. julia child
2. two fat ladies
3. heston blumenthal's feasts
4. jacques torres's old chocolate show, (forget the name...)
if only current/future shows are a possibility, heston's show and anything harold mcgee shows up on.
I second the Diner's Drive-in's and Dive's! Love Guy!
Jamie Oliver!
Man V. Food just to physically see Adam devour those massaive plates (kinda gross)
Ina Garten's place just coz everything looks so elegant and her food looks delicious
Be a judge on Top Chef or the Next Iron Chef at a cool location
and @Samanto, I agree with you on the Neelys! ;)
Oh, Two Fat Ladies for sure!
But really, Ina. I want to be her neighbor.
My husband would have a hard time deciding between Nigella (fantasy woman) and Jaime Oliver (his man crush).
#1 Julia!
#2 Guest judge on Iron Chef
#3 Sitting at Mario Batali's counter on Molto Mario
#4 Aarti Party! She's so bubbly.
Chuck Hughes of Chucks Day off for sure. I love how enthused he is in the kitchen and the wicked beats they play when he cooks..as I always cook to music.
Secondly, the lads of Food Jammers - http://www.foodjammers.com/ because their ingenuity and slightly hare brained ideas actually work and if they don't they seem like fun trying.

Top Chef... especially their quickfire challenges!! (Ever since the Dr. Pepper aioli in the vending machine challenge, I've been inspired!)
And then to indulge my womanly inclination toward culinary man-candy, the Take-Home-Chef with Curtis Stone. He'd HAVE to teach me in the kitchen 'cause with him there any skill I'd claimed to have would go out the window...
DITTO on GOOD EATS!!! Then pull an all nighter with Anthony Bourdain, show up at Ina's for brunch, hit up a lunch spot w/Adam Richmond Man V. Food challenge, then lay low for dinner at Nigella Lawson's.
I would pretty much do anything short of selling a kidney or a child to be a guest judge on Iron Chef America.
That or anything with Alton Brown.
Avec Eric - The Ripper Rules
I've often fantasized about being a guest judge on Top Chef, but it has literally been several seasons since there was an episode where no contestant used shellfish (excepting the single vegan challenge). Since I'm allergic, this really ruins the fantasy for me. God forbid someone cook a piece of meat without some kind of scallop garnish or freakin' lobster stock or whatever.
@angelala I hear you - I'd love to guest judge, but as a vegetarian, it just wouldn't work. Those people coat their veggies in meat.
Guest judge on Iron Chef, preferably with pork as the ingredient of the day.
I would LOVE to cook along on Cook's Country, or with Ina, and I'd love to cook in Jamie's outdoor wood oven.
Rick Stein. He is so passionate about finding the freshest fresh local food and making the best of it.
