It's that time of year again when I am magnetically drawn to anything pumpkin. The force is a combination of my love of the bright squash and my childish excitement regarding Halloween. So, when I passed chocolate-covered pumpkin seeds in the grocery store, I really had no choice but to give them a shot!
The mix is made by Landgarten, an Austrian organic foods company, and the seeds are lightly roasted and covered in either milk, dark, or white chocolate. Although the seeds are more of a vehicle for the chocolate than a healthy element, the high quality chocolate makes this a good thing. The pumpkin seeds provide a nice crunch and a unique taste as well.
And these are great inspiration for making your own chocolate-covered pumpkin seeds this year! Landgarten's seeds are barely salted and could use a little more salt to give them that familiar Halloween snack taste; I'm looking forward to developing my own.
Have you ever made chocolate-covered roasted pumpkin seeds?
