This time of year is hard for cooks. We're not quite sure if it's winter (braised short ribs? coq au vin? polenta?) or if spring is just about here (are the peas ready yet?). So I have been looking for new ways of cooking this time of year, and for things to push me outside, even if it's a little colder and wetter than I would like. These grill-roasted potatoes are just the thing: Warm and cozy, like the best winter food, but roasted to tender perfection on the grill. These potatoes are so simple. They are roasted over indirect heat on a grill for about an hour, then smashed and drizzled with crème fraîche. Add a bit of salt and pepper and they're almost the perfect meal.
