Our round-up of bake sale tips and ideas reminded us of another bake sale idea we recently came across: cobbler in a jar from Not Martha! We think this is a fabulous and very cute idea, especially as summer fruits are finally starting to come into season.
Megan from Not Martha used half pint-sized jars to hold the cobbler, a good size for one individual portion. She also figured out the perfect ratio of fruit filling to cobbler topping so that they baked right up to the edge of the jar, but didn't overflow. Perfect!
Besides bake sales, we think these self-contained cobblers would be great for camping, road trips, picnics, or just a special treat packed into you lunch.

Perfect for picnics! Now where can I get those little jars!
I love these! I made little popovers this weekend with some of my blueberry jam (doing a giveaway for a jar on my blog right now!), and was trying to think of a more clever way to gift them. I'm going to have to try this!
Warning, make sure the jars do not seal or you will create an anaerobic environment and open the door for botulism toxicity. We were warned in Food Processing against sealing breads in cans. I would suggest storing the jars in a refrigerator to retard mold.
Oh, I love Megan! I am so pleased to see her featured here :)
I would love to make something like this for a summer fete, but sadly I'm not convinced that sort of straight-sided mason jar is available in the UK. I suspect jamjars wouldn't be quite the same experience!
What a fabulous idea! And I have the cookbook she used, all I need are the jars!
THANKS!!!!
