Pot lids always seem to be in the way. They slither off pots in cupboards, and get pushed into teetering piles to make way for stacks of pots and pans. They never seem to stay put, and for a long time the storage for my pot lids just drove me batty. Then I got these incredibly inexpensive little lid racks from IKEA — they're going strong and I love them!
These pot lid racks are from IKEA's RATIONELL VARIERA kitchen fittings line. They are only $3, and they mount very easily on the wall with two screws. (Screws that are not included, I hasten to add. IKEA only gets you so far.)
They've been the perfect solution for my pot lids; in fact, I just bought a second rack to hold a few more stray lids. They look nice on the wall, and the lids stay put without any fuss.
The only drawback is that the racks currently aren't listed on the IKEA website as available. The website has been especially erratic lately, though, and I found this rack at IKEA just last weekend. So I think they are still available — just not through the website.
Do you use one of these racks? How do you store your pot lids?

I have one from the container store ($6) that I mounted on the wall. The only draw back seems to be that the lids scrape the wall. But it's a very nifty way of keeping them out of the way.
Huh...it never occurred to me to mount it on the wall, but I like it!
Mine is mounted inside a lower cabinet door it's the first time I ever had such a thing. The minute I installed it I wondered why I lived in 20 years worth of kitchens without one.
These were at my IKEA (woodbridge, va) this weekend.
These look very handy. I don't have the wall space for them, but I had an empty cabinet over the stove, so I used two of the wooden racks from the Container Store. The pegs are taller than on most racks, so the lids stay completely upright and don't lean or fall on each other (which can happen with large lids in racks with shorter pegs).

We bought one on impulse without measuring our cabinet doors... but it makes a great letter rack for our building!
aww man that makes me really sad. i bought two of those MONTHS ago, knowing i would use them when i moved into my new house....but my lids are too big! i can only put like two or three lids in each =(=(=( but for the price i cannot complain!
I have one of these racks-- my kitchen is all walls and very little storage, so it is the perfect accompaniment to my wall-mounted pot rack. However, I'd be willing to pay more for something with adjustable slots in order to better fit differently sized lids...
I have several and also use it to hold paper and reusable shopping bags.
I'm a vegetarian and I have a NuWave oven. I keep my pot lids in my expensive-to-run oven. The racks are perfect for lid storage. Before I had my kitchen spiff'd up and removed the dishwasher, I used the dishwasher. I am not crazy, I'm just frugal and my pot lids aren't all dinged up.
I used to use one of these (in my NY place) -- but when I redid it, I lined the walls with Ikea's Gruntal bars, and the lids (Revere ware in my case) fit behind them.
I have two of these and love them. I also use it for storing larger lids for glass/metal/plastic mixing bowls. We have a pegboard for our pots in our basement stairwell and two of these there as well.
I'm sorry but I think that looks awfully clunky.
I'm with Sara - it looks like some of the lids don't quite fit right, and how does it work with smaller lids? Or other strange lids (I have some without handles sticking out that I think would just slip through...)?
I like these, but my pot lids are kind of dome-shaped so they don't fit very easily into the rack. I'm able to do it with a little maneuvering but can only fit 3 lids instead of 5.
Hmmm... actually all the lids fit fine; I'm not quite sure what you're seeing. Smaller lids go on top - larger lids on the bottom.
I had these in an apartment, and I agree, they do scrape up the wall eventually. Plus, the owner of the apt hadn't mounted them correctly, so the screw always came out. So if you get them, use an anchor!
Picked up one of these for our storage-space-challenged kitchen, and it helped immensely! Our lids fit just fine, and we mounted it on the sink's vinyl backsplash, so no wall damage moving them in and out. Perfect for our tiny kitchen!
I have one of these in my pantry, I love it!!! everything fits perfectly and I don't have to worry about them falling off the shelves.
I have one that I put up in the gap between the lower cabinet and the stove (so it's hidden). We don't use it for lids though, we use it for sheet pans and muffin pans. It is perfect because it is right next to the stove and keeps everything organized. Our lids didn't really fit, but the sheet pans fit like a charm.
My lids have to be space every other in order to work.
I love this idea; contrary to what others have said, I like how it looks. Seems very efficient to me.
We use these for sorting mail in our four-adult household. They work beautifully.
