If you like the no-fuss functionality of restaurant equipment, you'll probably love this stainless steel wall-mounted dish rack from French design company Tsé & Tsé. It's advertised as a dish drainer (all the shelves have holes in them) to be hung over the sink, but I honestly think it'd work better as a dishware cabinet in a small kitchen, don't you? You could even get a couple and hang them side by side for a wall of open cabinetry.
However, the biggest obstacle to doing that is price. I say these are luxury items because the large rack retails for a whopping $600 (!) while the smaller one sells for $315. But still, love the design.
Find It:
• Large Stainless Steel Dish Rack from Tse & Tse, $595 from Horne
• Small Stainless Steel Dish Rack from Tse & Tse, $313 from Pure Déco

Bacsac Bacsquare 04...

I think Ikea used to have one of these that was like $40 :(
I've been looking for one that is reasonably priced!
Oh Mama, I so want several of these. I have a couple of wooden wall mounted dish storage but love these.
One day my dream house will come and I will have my dream kitchen/scullery.
What I really want is one of those Italian-style dish racks that go over the sink so the water drains right into the drain. And, that looks like these pretty stainless versions! (Hmmm, Kickstarter??)
(ok, note to self... PROOFREAD "drains right into the drain". Ugh.
(ever have a really bad day? I'm having one... my last post on this topic. I see now that the shelves have holes.) #FAIL
This contraption can be very commonly found in most kitchens in India. Works really well. I remember one that hung over the kitchen sink in my childhood home in India. I can have one shipped to me from there to the US and it still won't cost as much as the one from Tse and Tse!
Love this! Having just downsized from a two bedroom to a one bedroom apartment (with a proportionately smaller kitchen), my cooking space is tight. Though, I would have to find a lower priced version. Still though, it's a great piece for small kitchens!
@Chakli - LOL! I think you could buy 20 of these for the cost of one of these 'designer' ones. Would someone really pay $600 for this?
They're the most common thing in Indian kitchens and most people are trying to get away from having these..
Is there an online source of the Indian racks?
@georgeandgracie - Sorry, I googled india-based businesses but I can only find bulk suppliers like these http://www.bluestarkitchensinks.com/stainless-steel-wash-basin.html#platerack or trade sites like http://catalogs.indiamart.com/products/kitchen-racks.html
Unfortunately, the only kitchen stuff available online in India is what is considered trendy these days, not the things that were in our mom and grandmom's kitchen. Your best bet would be to have it shipped to by someone who can buy it at the local market. I'm guessing here but a medium-sized rack should cost about 3000 INR.
@georgeandgracie - The only ones I can find online are trade sites like this http://catalogs.indiamart.com/products/kitchen-racks.html. Unfortunately, among the kitchen stuff available online in India you wouldn't find something that could also be in your mom or grandmom's kitchen! They assume no one wants to buy that anymore..

I mean 3000 INR for a medium sized rack..
