They have dried Mangosteens at Trader Joe's...that's the closest I've come to eating one.
i've never seen one. What is it like?
revolution9, they're very sweet, with a delicate aroma and a very tender and smooth texture. Hard to compare it to anything else. I think they're worth trying at least once.
I had the fortune of eating fresh mangosteens in the philippines. They are amazing, but one thing i would add is that the pulp is very fibery. it's just way to expensive for me to eat here in the states.
Some people swear that mangosteen is a super food. my friends swear that whenever they get sick, they take shots of the xanga mangosteen juice and have a quicker than usual recovery. i know you can get the mangosteen juice online. if you're interested in the superfood properties of mangosteen, check out this site - http://www.mangosteenadvice.com/mangosteen-health-benefits.html
Hey all--I hate to advertise here but I've been trying to sell two sealed full size bottles of xanga for AGES. I'm moving soon and would like to get rid of peripheral items like this. If anyone's interested, please post a comment.
I love mangosteens. I ate many, many, and many growing up as a child. They're wonderful, very nostalgic...just thinking of them makes my mouth water and certainly brings back memories of my childhood days being under the trees smacking my lips on these.
I'd pay the price!
