[Twice a week we're rounding up our favorite recipes and tips from our friends at Serious Eats and sharing them here. We also want to say Hi to the new readers who found us through Serious Eats and are stopping by for the first time... Welcome!]
Serious Eats breaks some big news this week: Burger King has discontinued their signature Whopper. Everything has its time, right?
Well, not so fast. Watch the video at Serious Eats' network site A Hamburger Today and you'll see punk'd customers getting Big Macs instead of the ostensibly discontinued Whopper. The truth? It's a stealth marketing video from Burger King itself. Relax Eaters - your Whopper is safe. More Serious Eats below...

Anyone with an interest in meat should check out The River Cottage Meat book. It's beautiful (such nice charts), useful, and interesting. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is a genius. Really. One of the best food books I've seen in ages (and I'm a cookbook librarian!). An excellent git for any carnivores in your life!
git= gift. Oops!
Gad, who would actually lament the death of the Whopper???
lovelyfood,
that one's on my list!
Whole foods had fresh (not frozen) Bell and Evan's cornish hens on Sunday. I marinated them in some fresh herbs from the windowsill, orange zest, garlic and peppercorn and spit roasted them.
Cornish hens are often overlooked but they are so tender and delicious and easy to prepare.
